AERONET Instrument Troubleshooting Interface - Solutions for MISSING MESSAGES Flag

Description
Satellite-transmitting AERONET sites send a fixed number of scheduled messages per day via their DCP transmitter, each carrying a block of instrument data. Missing messages can result from a satellite not being in view at the scheduled transmission time, an antenna obstruction, or insufficient transmitter power - and unlike DCP Data Missed, this flag can fire even when most transmissions are succeeding.

Condition(s)
Flag any missing messages in the last 24 hours (the last 24 hours may be when the instrument last transmitted continuous data, not necessarily from current time)

How To Check/Test
Select appropriate Platform ID and find instrument here.

Solution Level 1 (< 5 minutes)
1. Check/reseat connections around transmitter.
2. Ensure that the transmitter is receiving adequate 12V power.
3. Ensure there are no obstructions in the antenna's field of view

Solution Level 2 (more involved)
1. Ensure antenna is oriented properly.
2. Evaluate transmitter LED indicator.

Solution Level 3 (last resort)
1. Repair or replace transmitter.
